Meningococcal ACYW & B
Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is a bacterial infection that can cause serious and life threatening illness, including meningitis and meningococcemia (blood infection). Even with treatment, 10 to 30 percent of these cases are fatal. In Canada, most infections are due to four types of the bacteria: groups B, C, W and Y. Whereas for travelers who visit the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa during the dry season, vaccination against groups A, C, Y, W is highly recommended.
Consult with our travel clinician to determine what vaccine is best suited for your needs.
