Typhoid (Injection and Oral)

Typhoid fever is caused by salmonella typhi bacteria. Places at highest risk are in Africa and South Asia. Symptoms of typhoid include high fever, headache, stomach pain, constipation or diarrhea and rash. Symptoms often start 1 to 3 weeks after exposure, and in some people, may return up to a few weeks after the fever has gone. Rarely, there can be life-threatening complications.

Typhoid vaccine can help lower risk of getting the disease. However, it is also very important to have good personal hygiene and to take food and drink precautions while you are travelling.
